Phosphate Total

Phosphate
Phosphates are commonly used in boiler waters to prevent scale formation. Calcium is precipitated as calcium phosphate and removed.
The presence of soluble phosphates results from domestic and industrial effluent discharges. Their presence is undesirable as they have a complex effect on the natural environment contributing to rapid plant and algae growth in rivers and streams. Phosphates present in natural water pass through into drinking water supplies where they are not generally considered harmful for human consumption.
Total Phosphate reaction tubes are digested at 100° C and measured in a photometer.
