Thiocyanate

Thiocyanate
Gases discharged from cooking ovens used in iron and steel production are scrubbed and cooled to remove certain undesirable contaminants which include thiocyanate. The plant operators have to reduce considerably the concentration of thiocyanate before the final effluent becomes environmentally acceptable as it can have a detrimental effect on the flora and fauna of streams and the running of sewage treatment processes.
